Jump in and start changing lives for shelter pets! Sign up here and get started today.

Socializing with Cat and Kittens

Come play with adoptable cats and kittens. Our cats can get out of  their kennels one a time to stretch their legs and get some cuddles. While signing up is not required, the best times to volunteer with our cats are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday between 11 AM and 5 PM.

Dog Walkers

Dog Walking Volunteers provide essential exercise, enrichment, and socialization for the dogs at Jeffersonville Animal Shelter. By taking dogs out for walks, playtime, and positive interactions, volunteers help reduce stress, improve behavior, and make dogs more adoptable. This role is perfect for dog lovers who want to make a direct impact on the daily lives of shelter animals.

Animal Care Support

Provide basic care for shelter cats and dogs at Jeffersonville Animal Shelter, including cleaning and socializing. The Animal Care Support volunteers will also be assisting our shelter staff with various needs and other small tasks around the shelter.

Doggy Day Out

Take a dog on an adventure with our Doggy Day Out program. This allows for dogs to get out of the shelter to get more exposure to adopters and have some fun! Volunteers must be 18 years old and schedule a day and time to take a dog off shelter property. To fill out a waiver in advance click here and for our Doggy Day Out Manual click here. To sign up or submit a waiver please email jeffersonvilleanimalshelter@gmail.com

There is not an age requirement to volunteer. Anyone under the age of 16 years old must have a parent/guardian with them at all times. Anyone under the age of 18 years old must have a parent/guardian sign a volunteer form for them.

What times do you take volunteers?

Volunteers are accepted during normal business hours.  Our hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 11am-5:00pm and Saturday 11am-3pm. Walking Dogs, socializing cats, washing dishes, cleaning cages, and folding laundry are day to day tasks that we need help with. Volunteers can also take adoptable cats and dogs to adoption events in the evenings and on weekends.

What do I need to do to start volunteering?

EVents

The easiest way to support the Jeffersonville Animal Shelter is to attend an event.  We have several community partners that share our love for animals.  Some of these partners host events to benefit the shelter and some invite us to bring adoptable animals and information to their own events.  Stop on by!

Foster

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

Fostering is always a big need for the shelter. Cats and dogs are constantly walking through the doors at the Jeffersonville Animal Shelter. By expanding the shelter walls you can give a temporary home to a pet in need.

Most of our fosters work full time and have pets of their own. Many families enjoy fostering, as the experience teaches children how they can personally make a difference in an animal's life.

If you haven't fostered an animal before, give it a try! You'll find it to be a rewarding experience, and you will know that you are helping save lives in Clark County.

If you would like to foster, please complete a foster application and email it to foster4jas@gmail.com or bring it by the shelter. If you would like more information about fostering contact us 812-282-0071 or stop by the shelter.

If long term fostering is not for you try out our Doggy Day Out! Take a dog on an adventure for a few hours by going hiking, walking around downtown or going to a pet store to pick out a treat. All volunteers must be 18 years old and must call in advance to schedule taking a dog off shelter property.
